Newly uncovered photos are raising alarm in Minnesota after showing Somali national Abdul Dahir Ibrahim — a man with a long record of fraud and immigration violations — posing with Governor Tim Walz and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Ibrahim, who entered the U.S. illegally in the 1990s and has since accumulated multiple convictions, was recently arrested again by federal authorities following renewed scrutiny of his immigration status.
Ibrahim had previously been ordered deported but remained in the country for years through temporary protections and repeat delays. His ties to prominent Minnesota politicians are now fueling criticism of the state’s relaxed immigration posture, especially as federal investigators continue targeting large-scale fraud rings connected to Somali community networks.

Ibrahim has had removal orders against him since 2004.

The images have intensified political pressure on Walz and Omar, who have both promoted expansive migrant-friendly policies while distancing themselves from individuals implicated in criminal activity. As the scandal grows, critics argue the photos symbolize a broader problem: a political culture that ignored red flags for years while fraudulent schemes flourished across the state.
