Liz Peek joined Larry Kudlow and Tim Kennedy of Unleash Prosperity on “Kudlow: Special Edition” on Fox Business to break down Nvidia’s blockbuster second-quarter earnings and the growing public backlash to the AI data center build-out.
Nvidia reported $96.22 billion in second-quarter revenue, roughly $4 billion above expectations. Peek said the number should quiet “AI mirage” skeptics, even as $89 billion of that total came from AI data centers — a concentration she called worth watching. She pointed to a McKinsey estimate of $7 trillion in data center construction jobs as evidence the build-out is a broader driver of economic growth, not a narrow AI bet.
Asked about Bill Gates’ recent warnings on AI-driven job losses and his call to tax robots that displace workers, Peek was unsparing: reading Gates’ piece, she said, “it almost read like AI wrote it — it was almost AI slop,” listing off retiring boomers, a shrinking pool of college graduates and self-deporting immigrants as reasons the U.S. actually needs AI agents to supplement a shrinking workforce.
She also pushed back on Democrats opposing data center construction, noting the position puts them at odds with labor unions — electricians and construction workers — who want the jobs. And she renewed her reporting on China’s role in fueling local opposition to data centers, saying Beijing is “trying to gin up local opposition” because it knows the U.S. can’t advance in AI without the build-out. Her fix: make hyperscalers generate their own power to serve their needs, taking the strain off local grids and communities.
