Former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris drew backlash online after her not so positive Fourth of July message that included an odd photo. Harris posted a photo of her with her husband; a photo which noticeably excluded President Joe Biden.
The image, posted on X, showed Harris alongside her husband, Doug Emhoff, watching fireworks from a White House balcony during the 2024 Independence Day holiday festivities.

“This Fourth of July, I am taking a moment to reflect. Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better,” Harris wrote in her post. “But I love our country — and when you love something, you fight for it. Together, we will continue to fight for the ideals of our nation.”
Social media went wild over her lack of patriotism and were quick to point out that President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, who attended the event, were absent from the photo. “Kamala cropping Joe out is very symbolic,” commented Link Lauren, a former adviser to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who also shared a wider image revealing the Bidens standing just a few feet away.
Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kiersten Pels also weighed in, posting, “Feeling grateful we didn’t end up with a President who posts ‘things are gonna get worse’ on the 4th of July.”
According to the Daily Caller News Foundation, Harris’s post come as she faces declining support among Democratic voters heading into the 2028 primary season. A June survey from Emerson College showed that only 13% of Democrats backed Harris, a sharp drop from the 37% who supported her in November.
