Fox News contributor Liz Peek blasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Party for what she called a politically motivated government shutdown. Peek argued that Schumer is keeping the government closed out of fear that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could challenge him from the left in 2028. To prove his loyalty to progressives, Peek said, Schumer is putting the country in a “chokehold,” disrupting everything from air travel to basic government services like passport processing.
Peek warned that the shutdown’s ripple effects are already being felt nationwide — particularly in the travel sector. With the nation already facing a shortage of air traffic controllers, she said the ongoing impasse could become catastrophic if it stretches into the busy Thanksgiving season. “If this goes through Thanksgiving, we’re going to have a real mess on our hands,” she cautioned, adding that ordinary Americans are paying the price while politicians play games in Washington.
She also criticized the Biden administration’s focus on DEI hiring in the Federal Aviation Administration, arguing that it worsened the staffing shortage by prioritizing diversity over qualifications. Peek praised former Congressman Sean Duffy’s efforts to address the issue through expanded recruitment and training but accused Democrats of repeatedly voting to block progress. “Shame on these people,” she said, noting that lawmakers continue to collect paychecks while the country suffers from their political brinkmanship.
