Fox Business contributor Liz Peek joined Stuart Varney to discuss Democrats’ early optimism following recent elections — an optimism she believes is misplaced. Peek argued that Democratic leaders, including Hakeem Jeffries, face growing challenges because of their association with far-left figures like Zohran Mamdani, whose victory speech she described as “polarizing and off-putting” to moderate Democrats. While his rhetoric may play well in New York City, Peek said it’s unlikely to resonate in key swing states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Iowa. She emphasized that Republicans must reenergize Trump voters ahead of the midterms, warning that low turnout could stall conservative policy goals.
Peek also pointed to affordability as the defining issue for voters nationwide, noting that Democrats have failed to deliver meaningful relief on housing costs or inflation. Despite claims that prices have improved since the Biden years, she said Americans are still struggling with high costs and frustration over stagnant progress. Commenting on Mamdani’s fiery speech promising rent freezes and free public transit, Peek quipped that invoking socialist figure Eugene Debs was “hilarious” — and a sign of just how far left the party has drifted. Ultimately, she suggested Democrats’ ambitious rhetoric will backfire once their promises prove unworkable in practice.
